Pacific ocean dispatch: 49° North 176° East. We are now all on the southern tip of the Aleutian Islands in the Bering Sea, long-dreaded by American air force personnel. This was usually where you were banished to as punishment. This region is known for its bitter coldness, nonstop rain, complete lack of sunshine, and generally inhospitable Terascape
We are having a greater than 20 kn at a heading of 249.2°. This morning, we passed Atka island on our starboard side as we passed through the Aleutian Islands chain. We continue having to the west southwest in the northern Pacific. The Aleutian Islands, by the way are volcanic islands which separate the Bering Sea from the North Atlantic.
