Day three of the long sea voyage with our first stop in Japan. As the tricky prankstress Fortuna would have it, my mobile phone has vanished. This is the precise instrument with which I had intended to post recurring blogs, and with which good quality photographs could be immediately posted. Yesterday’s experimental video feed — sketchy as it was — was a testament to piggybacking off a Canadian mobile signal from my unlocked, now-missing smart phone.
It’s a good thing that I thought to bring a now reasonably obsolete Blackberry as a backup phone, given that this literal slow boat to China is a month-long commitment. At only $.78 an Internet minute, I will still adhere to blog updates–despite molasses-slow uploads through the arse of marine-based satellite internet.
